Toby Fitch is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Sydney, specializing in contemporary poetry and poetics. He holds a BA (First Class Honours) in Communications from UTS and a Doctor of Arts from the University of Sydney, where his thesis Themparks: Alternative Play in Contemporary Australian Poetry won the Dame Leonie Kramer Prize. Fitch has taught at tertiary levels since 2015, coordinating courses like ENGL1014 and ENGL2666. His research explores avant-garde movements, postmodernism, and non-traditional creative processes. He edits Overland's poetry section and co-edits major poetry anthologies. Awards include the Grace Leven Prize (2012) and multiple grants from the Australia Council and Copyright Agency. Current projects include Endlings (poetry on extinction) and Or: An Autobiography. Fitch’s work bridges literary criticism and creative practice, with a focus on experimental forms and interdisciplinary research.
