Caitlin Hodges is an Assistant Professor of Critical Zone Geoscience at the University of Oklahoma's School of Geosciences. Her research focuses on the intersection of soil science and biogeochemistry, investigating soil carbon cycle-mineral weathering feedbacks and redox processes in upland soils.
- Ph.D. in Soil Science and Biogeochemistry (2021, Pennsylvania State University)
- M.S. in Ecology (2017) and B.S.E.S. in Water and Soil Resources (2014) (both from University of Georgia)
Her research explores low-oxygen processes in well-drained soils using laboratory experiments and field monitoring. Key projects include:
- Climate and land use impacts on inorganic carbon cycling in grasslands
- Extreme redox boundaries as planetary environment proxies
- Bedrock-water quality-health equity connections
Current publications focus on urban soil frameworks, metal-organic carbon interactions, and redox electrode applications. She actively mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers in biogeochemical methodologies.
