Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistryمعرفی
Dr. Andres Tangarife-Escobar is a PostDoc and Doctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, specializing in soil biogeochemistry within the Department Biogeochemical Integration.
His current work in the WETSCAPES 2.0 project focuses on process-based modeling of greenhouse gases (CH4, N2O) and peat accumulation in rewetted fens. He integrates model-data comparisons with mesocosm experiments, analyzing oxygen availability and terminal electron acceptors at different peat depths.
Past research investigated carbon cycle timescales in Tibetan Plateau ecosystems, boreal forests in Sweden, and Arctic tundra permafrost soils, with emphasis on isotopic disequilibrium (Δ¹⁴C) and decomposition dynamics. Earlier experience included studying water cycles in tropical ecosystems using hydrogeochemical and isotopic proxies.
