Caitlin Chiaramonte is a Professor of Law in the Department of Law and Philosophy at the United States Military Academy. With extensive experience as a legal officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, she has held diverse roles including prosecutor, defense attorney, and legislative counsel, alongside operational deployments.
- Education: B.A. and J.D. from Fordham University, M.A. from Fordham University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, M.P.S. from George Washington University, and LL.M. in Administrative Law from the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.
Her research focuses on the Law of Armed Conflict, particularly detention operations and counter-terrorism case adjudication. She investigates the interplay between U.S. government agencies and international organizations in shaping International Law, the domestic use of the National Guard, and operational efficiencies in higher education.
Recent publications analyze emerging legal challenges in modern warfare. The 2024 article on Israel-Hamas conflict examines unlawful combatant status, while the 2023 Ukraine-focused work addresses drone warfare and surrender protocols.
