Caen Thomason-Redus serves as a Lecturer in the Music Leadership department at the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music. His work spans orchestras, universities, and arts organizations, with a focus on inclusion, community engagement, and music leadership.
He was named one of Musical America’s Top 30 Arts Administrators and received the Sphinx Organization’s MPower Artist Grant. Caen is a Grammy-nominated recording artist, known for albums such as Fierce Lyricism and Subtropical, as well as collaborations with composer Shawn Okpebholo. He also recorded extensively for The Flute Collection.
- Education: B.M. and M.M. in Flute Performance from Rice University and the University of Redlands, with additional studies at the University of Michigan and the Universität Mozarteum.
- Prior Appointments: Inclusion and Learning leader at the League of American Orchestras; Community and Learning at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
