Assoc. Prof. Dr. Celal Bulğay is an academic at Bingöl University’s Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Sports Management. He holds a PhD in sports genetics (2021) and became an Associate Professor in 2024. His research focuses on genetics, epigenetics, and athletic performance, with over 50 peer-reviewed articles. He serves in federations like the Turkish Badminton Science Board and University Sports Health Board. Bulğay leads the Sports Management Department since 2025 and has coordinated projects such as the TUBITAK-funded study on badminton athletes’ genetics and AI algorithms. His courses include Exercise Physiology and Sports Analysis.

He collaborates internationally and publishes in journals like Frontiers in Psychology and European Journal of Applied Physiology.
Grants include leading a TUBITAK project on badminton athletes’ genetics (2024–ongoing) and co-authoring projects on molecular genetics in wrestlers (2023–2024). He authored books like Genetik ve Atletik Performans (2022) and contributed book chapters on exercise genetics and children’s fitness.
