Dr. C. Tate Holbrook serves as Professor of Biology and Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences at the College of Coastal Georgia, where he coordinates the Biological Sciences degree program and teaches courses including Principles of Biology, Ecology, Conservation Biology, and Animal Behavior. He actively participates in university governance through the University System of Georgia Faculty Council and Cannon’s Point Preserve Education Task Force, and previously chaired Coastal Georgia’s Faculty Senate.
His educational qualifications consist of:
- B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville
- Ph.D. in Biology from Arizona State University
Specializing in ecology and evolutionary biology, Dr. Holbrook integrates conservation biology and animal behavior research into experiential learning frameworks, designing undergraduate research projects, service-learning initiatives, and internships in collaboration with regional conservation organizations to address real-world environmental challenges.
He mentors students through hands-on fieldwork and research opportunities while contributing to academic leadership and conservation education. His service roles demonstrate sustained commitment to institutional development and community-based environmental stewardship.
