C. Elizabeth Dougherty holds dual academic appointments as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine’s Division of Palliative Care at McMaster University. Her work focuses on hospice and palliative care, grief and loss, and person/family-centred care models. She specializes in supporting individuals, families, and healthcare providers through serious illness, end-of-life transitions, and bereavement using strengths-based approaches.
Elizabeth is a Palliative Educator with Acclaim Health and Pallium Canada, designing continuing education workshops. She collaborates with the Children and Youth Grief Network as a community partner and maintains a private consulting practice (C. Elizabeth Dougherty Consulting) offering grief support services. Her interdisciplinary approach emphasizes compassionate communication and advocacy for high-quality palliative care systems.
