Céline Guivarch is a Lecturer and Research Director at École des Ponts ParisTech, and a Research Director at CIRED (International Center for Research on Environment and Development). Her work focuses on the economics of climate change, emphasizing modeling approaches for mitigation strategies and decision-making under uncertainty. She contributes to international climate policy frameworks through her roles as an IPCC author (6th Assessment Report, Group 3) and member of France's High Council for the Climate. Her research bridges socioeconomic scenarios, climate impacts, and policy design, with a focus on equity and inequality dimensions.
Current responsibilities include leading CIRED's climate modeling initiatives, co-chairing the Integrated Assessment Modeling Consortium's Scientific Steering Committee, and advising on energy security and low-carbon transitions. Recent work highlights include developing high-resolution income projections aligned with Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs), analyzing climate policy implications under tipping point risks, and assessing global fossil fuel reduction pathways.
Her interdisciplinary activities span climate-energy-economy modeling, scenario development, and bridging scientific research with policy implementation. She actively participates in international conferences and workshops, promoting innovative quantitative methods for climate change analysis. Notable contributions include co-organizing the IQ SCENE workshop on scenario methodologies and presenting at the Houches School of Physics on new socioeconomic scenarios frameworks.
