Dr. Lena Reimann is a Visiting Fellow and postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Water and Climate Risk, Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a PhD in Geography from Kiel University, Germany. Her work focuses on climate migration, sea-level rise impacts, and socioeconomic vulnerability assessments. Lena is affiliated with projects like COASTMOVE (agent-based migration modeling) and CLIMAAX (European climate risk toolbox development). She contributed to the IPCC AR6 and MedECC reports, and led local SSPs for Flensburg's adaptation planning.
- Education:
- PhD in Geography (2021), Kiel University
- Master of Education in English and Geography (2015), Kiel University
- Bachelor of Arts in English and Geography (2011), Kiel University
- Research Interests: Climate migration modeling, geospatial vulnerability analysis, scenario development, and interdisciplinary risk assessment. Her work integrates GIS tools and socioeconomic data to address coastal adaptation challenges.
Her recent articles explore heatwave vulnerability, economic impacts of natural hazards, and global population datasets. Lena’s datasets include the CONCLUDE migration model and coastal SSP frameworks. She is a Coordinating Lead Author for the MedECC Special Report on environmental migration.
