Byron Simmons is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Texas A&M University, with a PhD from Syracuse University (2019) and a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (2007). His primary research focuses on metaphysics, 19th century Continental philosophy (especially Schopenhauer), and the history of philosophy. He has also engaged with ethics and logic.
His research interests include ontological pluralism, the qualitative/non-qualitative distinction, and Schopenhauer’s pessimism. Recent publications explore these topics through lenses such as compensation arguments and conceptual analysis.
