Byron A. Miller is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair of the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Program at the University of South Florida (USF), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Florida State University (2012). His research focuses on interracial relationships, mental health disparities, and adolescent development, with a particular emphasis on how psychological and social factors influence health outcomes. Miller has authored a book, Interracial Romance and Race Relations: Bridging Generations and Society, and has published extensively in journals like Social Science Research, Society and Mental Health, and Journal of Youth and Adolescence.
Education: Ph.D., Florida State University (2012); M.S. (2009), M.A. in Teaching (2005), B.A. (2002), University of South Florida.
Research Interests: Miller’s work bridges sociology and public health, examining topics such as mental health outcomes in interracial relationships, multiracial identity formation, and the impact of family dynamics on youth well-being. His epidemiological approach integrates quantitative methods with qualitative insights to address social inequalities.
Awards: 2020 USF College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award, 2011 Florida State University Best Graduate Research Paper.
