Research Interests: Dr. Banini's primary research focuses span the intersection of hepatology and metabolic health. Her work investigates Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), alcoholic liver disease, obesity-related metabolic disorders, health disparities in vulnerable populations, and liver transplantation outcomes. She employs both clinical and translational approaches to understand the mechanisms of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASH), hepatic complications, and interventions for weight management in patients with liver conditions.
Publication Trends: Dr. Banini's recent scholarly output demonstrates a strong focus on health disparities in liver disease, particularly examining racial and gender differences in outcomes for conditions like hepatocellular carcinoma and alcoholic hepatitis. Her work also explores evolving trends in BMI among liver transplant recipients and complications such as hepatic hydrothorax in cirrhotic patients. Much of her research utilizes large national databases to identify patterns and disparities in care and outcomes.
