Dr. Mengfei Liu is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Digestive Diseases) at Yale School of Medicine. She specializes in treating liver diseases, including cirrhosis, alcohol-associated liver disease, viral hepatitis, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Her research focuses on understanding mechanisms of liver injury and developing therapies for chronic liver conditions.
- Education: MD from Duke University (2014)
- Residency: Internal Medicine at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (2017)
- Fellowship: Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at Mayo Clinic (2020)
Her research interests include mechanotransduction in liver endothelial cells, chemokine regulation in alcoholic hepatitis, and extracellular vesicle-based biomarkers. Key contributions include studies on CXCL1 signaling in liver fibrosis and the role of super enhancers in cytokine-driven liver inflammation. She collaborates with teams investigating liver transplantation and bioengineered liver transplants.
Publications emphasize translational research in hepatic pathophysiology, with a focus on mechanistic studies and clinical applications. Her work bridges basic science and clinical practice to improve outcomes for patients with alcoholic and viral liver diseases.
