Bryson Robertson is a Professor and Director of the Pacific Marine Energy Center (PMEC) at Oregon State University's College of Engineering. His work focuses on marine renewable energy systems, particularly wave, tidal, and offshore wind technologies.
- Ph.D., University of Guelph, Canada, 2013
- MASc, Queens University, Canada, 2009
- BEng, University of Victoria, Canada, 2005
Dr. Robertson specializes in wave mechanics, hydrodynamics of floating bodies and mooring systems, and the co-design of offshore energy technologies. His research integrates field measurements, numerical models, and physical prototyping to advance marine energy deployment within the Blue Economy. Recent projects examine wave energy's role in decarbonizing electrical systems and its socio-political implications.
His recent publications highlight advancements in wave energy converter (WEC) design, hybrid simulations for floating offshore wind turbines, and resource assessment methodologies. These works emphasize hydrodynamic optimization, energy efficiency, and integration into coastal and grid systems.
Dr. Robertson has secured funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Navy, the State of Oregon, and the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada. He collaborates with industry partners and national laboratories to develop marine energy solutions.
As Director of PMEC, he leads initiatives in marine energy research, including testing facilities and policy frameworks for sustainable deployment.
