معرفی
Dr. Bryce Maclver is a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), affiliated with the Department of Medicine. His research focuses on membrane permeability and small solute transport in specialized barrier epithelia, particularly in the kidney and bladder. He investigates the role of transmembrane proteins like aquaporins and urea transporters (UTs) in maintaining compartmental separation and physiological function.
- Education:
- Bid to Biotechnology, Massey University (New Zealand)
- MSc in Bacterial Genetics, Auckland University
- PhD in Genetics, University of Edinburgh (cloning myosin V gene in Drosophila melanogaster)
Dr. Maclver’s career spans postdoctoral work at Pennsylvania State University (beta-heavy-spectrin gene and AP-2 transcription factor studies) and a transition to kidney physiology research under Dr. Mark Zeidel, first at the University of Pittsburgh and later at BIDMC/Harvard Medical School since 2006. His work emphasizes the interplay between lipid membrane properties and transporter protein function in epithelial systems.
- Labs/Teams:
- Epithelial Physiology Group (Mark Zeidel Lab)
