Bryan N. Massingale is the James and Nancy Buckman Professor of Theological and Social Ethics at Fordham University and Senior Fellow in its Center for Ethics Education. An award-winning scholar, teacher, and activist, he is a leader in Catholic theology and former President of both the Society of Christian Ethics and the Catholic Theological Society of America.
His research focuses on Catholic moral theology, racial justice, African American religious ethics, and the intersection of race and sexuality. Massingale has authored two books including the award-winning 'Racial Justice and the Catholic Church' and over 200 articles and book chapters. He is a prominent voice on issues of racial and sexual justice in media outlets including National Public Radio, PBS NewsHour, and The New York Times.
Massingale has received numerous honors including the Yves Congar Award for Theological Excellence, Pax Christi USA Teacher of Peace Award, and Catholic Charities USA's Centennial Gold Medal. He serves as consultant to organizations including the U.S. State Department’s Strategic Religious Engagement Unit and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
