Brianne Jacobs is an Associate Professor of Theology & Religious Studies at Emmanuel College, where she coordinates the Gender & Women Studies Minor program. As a Catholic feminist theologian, she utilizes the Catholic intellectual tradition to advance gender justice and human flourishing. She holds a Ph.D. from Fordham University, an M.A. from Union Theological Seminary, and a B.A. from St. John's College, Annapolis.
Her research critically examines the intersection of theology, embodiment, and gender justice, with specific focus areas including:
- Feminist reinterpretations of theological anthropology
- Ecclesial structures and gender dynamics
- Ethics of sexuality and relationships
- Catholic social teaching in contemporary contexts
Jacobs' publications demonstrate consistent engagement with feminist theology, gender theory, and Catholic identity. Her 2024 monograph Holy Body represents a culmination of her work on embodiment theology, while earlier articles investigate technology ethics, social sin, and historical feminist critiques of religious institutions. Her scholarship progressively evolves from analyzing feminist theological history toward constructive proposals for gender-inclusive ecclesiology.
