Bruno Poellhuber serves as Full Professor and Department Director in the Department of Psychopedagogy and Andragogy at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Education. He holds dual affiliations with CRIFPE (Interuniversity Research Centre on Teacher Training) and LIRES (Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research on Higher Education), focusing his work on educational innovation within postsecondary systems and teacher development frameworks.
His research centers on sociocognitive approaches to learner and teacher motivation, engagement, and self-regulation, with particular emphasis on digital literacy development and the pedagogical integration of emerging technologies. He investigates adoption processes for educational innovations through models like CBAM, examines active learning methodologies in hybrid and MOOC environments, and analyzes collaborative learning dynamics enhanced by information and communication technologies.
Professor Poellhuber has supervised 14 graduate students through doctoral and master's completions between 2014-2025, with research spanning mobile technology integration, flipped classroom implementation, and international student social media usage. He currently leads or co-leads 12 major research initiatives funded by FRQSC and SSHRC, including the International Journal of Technology in Higher Education, the LAVIA living lab for innovative learning technologies, and projects examining virtual reality in science education and AI ethics frameworks.
As an active member of GRIIPTIC (Interuniversity Research Group on ICT Integration) and CRIFPE, he contributes to national research networks exploring maker-space digital competence development, distance education frameworks, and transformative professional development models for postsecondary educators. His current projects include intelligent dashboards for academic success (TIR-IA), generative AI ethics in education, and immersive reality scenarios for science instruction.
