Bruno Perreau is Cynthia L. Reed Professor of French Studies at MIT, specializing in critical theory, contemporary French culture, and minority politics. His work examines queer theory translation, kinship structures, and social justice frameworks across French and American contexts.
Research explores intersectionality, discrimination law, and democratic ethics, most notably in Spheres of Injustice (2023), which develops a theory of justice based on minority experiences. Current projects analyze 'unlived lives' in French literature and forensic photography.
Honors include French academic palms and fellowships at Stanford Humanities Center and Institute for Advanced Study. Teaches courses on gender, French pop music, and political trends in short fiction.
