Mr. Jean-Philippe Imbert is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature and Sexuality Studies at Dublin City University (DCU), affiliated with the School of Applied Language & Intercultural Studies. His research focuses on literary and artistic representations of sexuality, gender, and aesthetics in Mexican, Irish, and French 20th-21st century contexts, particularly exploring themes like evil, trauma, and queer theory. He has held leadership roles in organizations such as the ADEFFI (Association des Études Françaises et Francophones) and the Irish Association of Mexican Studies, and serves as Research and Education Officer for IASSCS (International Association for the Studies of Sexuality, Culture, and Society).
Imbert has curated international art exhibitions in Delhi, Dublin, and Mexico City, notably on photography by Alejandro Gómez de Tuddo. He has supervised four completed doctoral dissertations and currently advises eight students on topics including queer Chicano detective fiction, feminist pornography, and geocritical studies. His awards include the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques and the Marisco Fellowship.
Research interests span comparative literature, sexuality studies, gender studies, queer theory, and spatial studies. His work bridges art and literature, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to cultural and historical narratives. Recent engagements include conferences on Mexican literature, queer aesthetics, and transnational cultural dialogues.
