Irell and Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciencesمعرفی
Bruno Melillo is an Institute Investigator in the Department of Chemistry. He holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania (2015), an M.Sc. from Université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (2010), and a Diplôme d'Ingénieur from ESPCI Paris-PSL (2010). His postdoctoral work (2017) was conducted at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
His research focuses on chemical biology, drug development for parasitic diseases, HIV/AIDS, and cancer. Key areas include covalent ligand design, proteomic mapping, small molecule inhibitors, and antiparasitic agent synthesis. His work merges organic synthesis with biological systems to address unmet medical needs in infectious diseases and oncology.
Recent studies highlight innovations in azetidine library synthesis for antimalarial agents, structural analysis of HIV entry mechanisms, and covalent targeting of oncogenic proteins. His technical expertise spans diversity-oriented synthesis, photoreactive probes, and proteomic profiling.
Though no formal grants or awards are listed, his publication record demonstrates impactful contributions to chemical biology and translational medicine. Current projects likely involve expanding the ligandable proteome and developing next-generation therapeutics.
