Bruno Levasseur is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, University of Roehampton. He holds a PhD in French Cultural Studies from the University of Birmingham, with a thesis on French banlieues awarded a Mention by Inathèque de France.

His research focuses on urban marginality, cultural representations of French banlieues, and vernacular language translation in 21st-century France and America. He has analyzed crime series like Spiral and The Wire, exploring global circulation of 'ghetto' culture imagery.
Levasseur's recent publications examine community-driven cultural artifacts resisting mainstream banlieue narratives. He created a unique online archive documenting La Courneuve's Quatre Mille estate from 1962-2012.

As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he convenes the BA Media, Culture and Identity program, teaches Media and Society and The Art of the Story, and supervises final-year dissertation projects.
