Bruno Cessac is a Senior Research Scientist (Directeur de Recherches) at INRIA Sophia-Antipolis, leading the BIOVISION team since 2016. His research focuses on mathematical modeling of neural networks, particularly retinal dynamics and visual processing. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the ONERA Center in Toulouse and a Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches from Université de Nice. His academic roles include leadership in interdisciplinary projects combining neuroscience, physics, and computational biology.
Research Interests: His work spans theoretical physics applications to neuroscience, including neuronal network dynamics, retinal processing, and self-organized criticality. Key areas include modeling retinal waves, synaptic plasticity, and anticipatory motion processing in the visual system.
