Bruno Bašić

Dr. Bruno Bašić is a Lecturer in the Tertiary Preparation Pathway at the School of Education and Tertiary Access, University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), Queensland, Australia. He joined UniSC at the start of 2020 and teaches biology, chemistry, and mathematics courses (TPP109, TPP103, and TPP104 respectively).

His educational background includes a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and a Bachelor of Education from QUT. Prior to his position at UniSC, he worked as a chemistry tutor and laboratory demonstrator at the University of Canberra, served as a district relief teacher in rural Queensland, conducted chemistry research at Bayer in Germany, completed a post-doctoral position at Curtin University working on osteoarthritis treatment, and researched carbon-sequestration methods at the University of Queensland.

Dr. Bašić's research focuses on enabling education, chemistry education, and mathematics education. His scholarly work spans both educational methodology and specialized chemistry research, particularly in porphyrin chemistry. His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on innovative teaching approaches for non-traditional students in enabling education programs, with particular attention to block delivery models and student transition strategies. His earlier scientific work centered on porphyrin chemistry, CO2 sequestration, and molecular structure analysis.
