Bruce Uchimura is a Professor of Music at Western Michigan University's Irving S. Gilmore School of Music, specializing in cello instruction and chamber music coaching. He has held this position since 1987, with prior teaching roles at institutions including the Cleveland Institute of Music and Augusta College. His roles include conducting the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, which received national acclaim, including DownBeat Magazine's 2005 'Best Classical University Symphony Orchestra' award.
