Bruce Matsunaga is the Director of Digital Technology and a Researcher in the Department of English at Arizona State University (ASU), part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). He holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from ASU and specializes in Digital Humanities, Romanticism, and Ecocriticism. His roles include managing digital infrastructure for the department, overseeing Canvas courses, and supporting multimedia production. He is also the Digital Accessibility Liaison and manages social media platforms for the English Department.
His research interests include Digital Pedagogies, Environmental Humanities, and Psychoanalysis. Matsunaga has been recognized with awards such as the CLAS Marketing Award for Best Social Media Presence (2016, 2017) and the CINE Golden Eagle Award (2012). He has contributed to publications like Engaged Romanticism and led digital humanities projects such as the Developing Wassaja Project.
He serves on the KNTR Board of Directors and volunteers with Kids Need to Read since 2009, organizing events and photography initiatives. Matsunaga also participates in academic service roles, including the Online Courses Task Force and the Committee for Altruistic Research and Experience within ASU’s English Department.
