Bruce M. Kogut is the Sanford C. Bernstein Professor of Leadership and Ethics at Columbia Business School and Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University.
His academic journey includes a BA from Berkeley, an MIA from Columbia University, and a PhD from MIT. He spent the academic year 2012-13 as a fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study in Berlin.
Professor Kogut's research focuses on:
- Inequality and executive compensation
- Ideological slant in academic scholarship
- The political color of boards using computational social science methodologies
- The global transmission of productivity in historical perspective
He is currently working on a book about the global transmission of productivity in historical perspective. His edited book "The Small Worlds of Corporate Governance" was published by MIT Press in 2012, which used graph and simulation tools to analyze governance properties across 25 countries and globally.
