Bruce Lindsey is the E. Desmond Lee Professor for Community Collaboration at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, Washington University in St. Louis. Previously serving as Dean of the College and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design (2006-2017), he brings extensive academic leadership experience from Auburn University and Carnegie Mellon University.
Education includes:
- Master of Architecture from Yale University
- Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Photography from University of Utah
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art from University of Utah
His research explores intersections of architecture, community development, and environmental design, with particular focus on sustainable practices and pedagogical innovation in architectural education.
Publications demonstrate consistent engagement with computational design approaches, environmental history, and community-centered architectural practices spanning both theoretical and applied dimensions.
Notable honors include:
- Mellon Foundation grants for community initiatives (2015, 2024)
- William H. Danforth Award for regional impact (2024)
- National recognition from ACSA (2014)
He maintains active collaborations with the Rural Studio and leads community-engagement initiatives through the Engaged City project.
