Bruce Hammel is an Associate Professor of Music Theory and Bassoon at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he also serves as the coordinator of the musicianship area. As a distinguished performer, he has held principal bassoonist roles with the Amarillo, Tallahassee, and Charlottesville symphonies and remains an active chamber musician through ensembles like the Atlantic Winds at VCU, Currents at the University of Richmond, and the Albemarle Ensemble at the University of Virginia.
