Bruce Bubacz is the Curators' Distinguished Teaching Professor of Philosophy and Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), joining the faculty in 1973. He has held multiple leadership roles, including Founding Director of the College Honors Program (1979–1985), Chair of the Philosophy Department (1987–2000), Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (2000–2002), Chair of the Mathematics and Statistics Department (2004–2005), and Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs (2005–2007).

- Educated at Ripon College (BA in Philosophy) and the University of Washington (MA, PhD)
His research focuses on free speech theory and philosophy as a guide for living, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary applications in law, ethics, and leadership. He directs an annual seminar in Philosophy and Law at the UMKC School of Law and has developed ethics-training programs for the US Army’s PME and the National Weather Service’s Executive Leadership Seminar.
