Brook Andrew is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Fine Art at Monash University. His practice spans interdisciplinary art, curation, and research, critically examining colonial narratives and their impacts on Indigenous communities. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western Sydney University (1993) and a Master of Fine Arts (Research) from the same institution (2000).
Research interests include decolonizing archives, Indigenous memorialization, and the intersection of art with historical memory. Notable projects include the ARC-funded Representation, Rememberance and the Memorial, advocating for national recognition of Aboriginal frontier wars, and collaborations with global institutions like the Smithsonian and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.
Awards include the 2018 Advance Global Australian Award and inclusion in ARTSY's 2020 Most Influential Artists list. His work explores themes of cultural agency through immersive installations, such as In Vision of Nuance (2019) and More Than a Tarrang (2023), which interrogate colonial legacies and ecological knowledge.
Key grants include leadership roles in federal projects like The Space Between Us (2021–2028) and advisory roles in memorial design, such as the Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheener memorial (2016). Collaborations span museums, universities, and Indigenous communities globally.
