Maria Isabel Tejeda Martin is a Full Professor (Catedrática) in Fine Arts at the University of Murcia, affiliated with the Faculty of Fine Arts. Her expertise spans collaborative art, gender studies, curatorial practices, and exhibition design. She holds a PhD from the Universitat Politècnica de València (2009) and has been recognized for her research contributions with three sexenios and multiple awards, including the Fundación Arte y Derecho Prize and the University of Murcia Research Transfer Award.
Educated in art history, her career includes directing 4 doctoral theses and supervising 12 ongoing projects. She has authored over 16 indexed articles, edited 34 publications, and contributed to 95 exhibition catalogs. Her research focuses on Spanish art history, curatorial strategies, and feminist art practices, with notable works exploring Sorolla's canonization, Soviet-era performance art, and women artists under Franco.
Tejeda Martin has curated over 95 exhibitions globally, including at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS), the National Gallery of Scotland, and the Musée Mohammed VI in Morocco. She has held visiting professorships at institutions like the University of London and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Her grants include leading two Ministry of Economy & Competitiveness projects (I+D+i).
Awarded for her curatorial trajectory and academic excellence, she also serves on cultural councils, including as a juror for the Velázquez Prize. Her work bridges academic research, public art initiatives, and feminist critique, emphasizing collaboration and societal engagement.
