Joan Sureda

Joan Sureda is a distinguished Professor of Art History at the University of Barcelona since 1990, with prior faculty roles at the University of the País Vasco, Hispalense University of Seville, and Complutense University of Madrid. He served as director of the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (1986–1991) and held leadership roles in academic accreditation bodies like ANECA-PROGRAMA PEP. His research spans medieval and modern art, focusing on Mediterranean transcultural exchanges, the creative processes of canonical artists (Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Velázquez, Goya), and the sociopolitical contexts of art.
