معرفی
Professor Bronwyn Gillanders is the Head of School in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. Her research focuses on aquatic ecosystems, particularly fish and cephalopods, addressing environmental challenges such as climate change impacts, marine management, and biodiversity conservation. She leads the Spencer Gulf Ecosystem and Development Initiative, a major collaborative project supported by industry partners and research institutions like SARDI and Flinders University.
Her work spans ecological and environmental change studies using calcified structures of aquatic organisms, population connectivity analysis, and coastal carbon ecosystems. She emphasizes integrated marine management, leveraging otolith chemistry, genomics, and environmental DNA. Current projects include investigating cephalopod population trends and microplastic pollution in marine environments.
Professor Gillanders collaborates with industry and government to advance sustainable practices, such as the Spencer Gulf Initiative’s 2.5M USD investment. She is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students, fostering the next generation of marine scientists. Her lab, Gillanders Aquatic Ecology Lab, is part of the Southern Seas Ecology Laboratories and Environment Institute.
