Brittney E. Bailey is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Amherst College. She holds a BA in Mathematics from Messiah College and a PhD in Biostatistics from The Ohio State University (2018). Her research focuses on developing statistical methods for nested study designs, missing data imputation, and multilevel data analysis, with applications in mental health, epidemiology, and psychology. She has collaborated extensively with the Stress and Health Lab at Ohio State’s Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research, investigating topics like marital conflict’s impact on biomarkers and aging processes.
Her academic contributions include methodological advancements in cluster-randomized trials and applications of statistical techniques to public health challenges. She co-developed the STEM Incubator Program at Amherst to support underrepresented students in STEM and serves on committees like the ASA’s Committee on Minorities in Statistics. Her work emphasizes bridging statistical rigor with real-world health and social issues.
Key collaborations include projects on nutrition, marital conflict, and trauma recovery through lexical analysis of survivor testimonies. Her teaching includes courses like STAT 231: Data Science, reflecting her commitment to making statistical education accessible and inclusive.
