Barbara Bailey is Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at San Diego State University, with research expertise in nonlinear time series, spatial statistics, and ecological applications including cystic fibrosis studies. She teaches advanced courses in Time Series Analysis, Nonparametric Statistics, Actuarial Modeling, and Mathematical Statistics.
Her research spans diverse applications from Arctic carbon sequestration to clinical phenotyping in chronic diseases. Recent methodological innovations include machine learning approaches for medical image segmentation and HIV care prediction. Ecological work focuses on coral reef microbial dynamics and tundra ecosystem responses to climate change.
Clinical collaborations examine pulmonary function, low-back pain phenotypes, and cardiovascular impacts of vaping using advanced statistical modeling of imaging, sensor, and registry data. Methodological contributions address missing data imputation, racial bias in diagnostic algorithms, and functional connectivity analysis.
