Brisa Areli Muñoz (she/they) is a Chicane theater director, healing practitioner, and cultural worker currently serving as a Lecturer, where she contributes to the Spring Production Studio (TDM 90BR) in Spring 2025. Her work centers on collective liberation through theater, arts, and wellness initiatives.
- Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory, which develops new musicals for social change.
- Inaugural Artistic Director of NYC’s All-Inclusive All-City Theater Ensemble, creating original musicals with teens of all abilities.
- Former Manager of Community Partnerships for The Public Theater’s Public Works program, fostering participatory theater.
- Collaborated with institutions like Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Repertory Theater, The Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall.
Her research and practice bridge theater, cultural work, and healing, focusing on community-driven arts to repair social fabric and promote wellness. She co-led the national "Arts for Everybody" campaign in Edinburg, Texas, and has directed productions globally.
Muñoz’s interdisciplinary approach integrates participatory theater, arts education, and social justice. She emphasizes collaborative creation and inclusivity, working across institutions and communities to amplify marginalized voices through performance and storytelling.
