Briony Jones is a Professor of Peace and Justice at the University of Warwick’s Centre for Criminology. She holds multiple roles including Membership in Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development (WICID), Leadership of the Society and Culture Spotlight, and Co-Editorship of the Development Studies Association and Oxford University Press series. Her research focuses on the intersection of International Development, Transitional Justice, and Peacebuilding, emphasizing agency, care, knowledge politics, and Global South-North partnerships.
Education: MA in Poverty, Conflict and Reconstruction and PhD in Development Studies from the University of Manchester. Current affiliations include Visiting Researcher at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), Associated Researcher at swisspeace and Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Studies, and founding member of Oxford Transitional Justice Research. She has led major projects such as 'Empowering Data Literacies in Displacement' (2024-2025) and 'Knowledge for Peace' (2016-2019).
Teaching includes modules like 'Transitional Justice and International Development' and 'Politics of Globalisation'. Her research supervision spans topics including peacekeeping legitimacy, democratization in Africa, and grassroots peacebuilding in Northern Ireland. She advocates for inclusive knowledge production and ethical research practices in post-conflict contexts.
Notable collaborations include work with TRIAL International, the European Consortium for Political Research, and the Swiss National Science Foundation. She emphasizes bridging academic research with practical policy applications in transitional justice and sustainable development.
