Bright Emenike is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Physics at SUNY Old Westbury, part of the School of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Miami University (OH) and completed postdoctoral studies at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
His research focuses on Physical Organic Chemistry of Noncovalent Interactions and Synthesis, with emphasis on understanding molecular interactions like CH-π effects, solvent modulation, and fluorine gauche effects in chemical systems. His work bridges organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and neuropharmacology, particularly investigating lead toxicity and taurine's therapeutic potential.
Recent publications (2022–2024) highlight studies on neuroprotective roles of taurine, developmental lead exposure impacts, and molecular strain quantification. He has contributed to over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, often collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Dr. Emenike teaches Organic Chemistry lectures and labs, integrating innovative pedagogical methods like guided inquiry-based laboratory practices. His work appears in journals such as Chemistry – A European Journal, Journal of Chemical Education, and Journal of Organic Chemistry.
