Benjamin W. Gung is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Miami University. He received his Ph.D. from Kansas State University in 1987.
- Research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, including gold-catalyzed cycloadditions, total synthesis of natural products (e.g., Minquartynoic acid, Adociacetylene), and noncovalent interactions in aromatic systems.
- His group maintains educational tools like Structure to SMILES conversion and NMR/IR problem resources.
- Alumni from his research group include numerous undergraduate and graduate students, such as Steven Chiacchira, Jace Vining, Roy Ma, and Bright Emenike.
