Bridget Walsh is a Professor of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Nevada, Reno, within the College of Education and Human Development. She holds the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential and maintains an active research program focused on family well-being and early childhood development.
Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Child Development from Texas Woman's University, an M.S. in Psychology from Villanova University, and a B.A. in Psychology with concentrations in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Albright College.
Dr. Walsh's research examines Home Visiting systems, Professional Development for home visitors, Family Life Education, Early Head Start initiatives, and Infant Mental Health through mixed-methods approaches including thematic analysis and quasi-experimental designs. Her work emphasizes practical applications for diverse family populations and vulnerable communities.
Recent publications analyze group-based parenting programs for racially diverse families and document the experiences of pregnant incarcerated women in home visiting programs, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based interventions for high-need populations.
She actively mentors graduate students including doctoral candidate Antoinette Cavanaugh (recipient of a Graduate Merit Scholarship) and CFLE-certified students Tobi and Peji. Dr. Walsh leads research teams at the Child and Family Research Center and maintains certification in the Parent-Child Interaction (PCI) Feeding Scale assessment protocol.
