Dr. Brian Trout is a faculty member in the Accounting and Finance Department at Millersville University, part of the Lombardo College of Business. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Wilmington University, a Master’s in Accounting from Stetson University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Millersville University. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), he brings over 15 years of professional experience to academia.
His research focuses on accounting pedagogy and business students’ career aspirations, including studies on teaching strategies, the impact of the pandemic on college major choices, and factors influencing CPA certification intentions. He has published in journals such as the Pennsylvania CPA Journal, Journal of Accounting and Finance, and Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice.
Dr. Trout teaches courses like Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Data Analysis & Excel, and Business Ethics. He advises the Student Business Association and mentors students pursuing CPA, CMA, and Excel Expert certifications. He is also a thesis advisor, supporting students in presenting their work.
His work has been recognized by Millersville’s Center for Academic Excellence for innovative teaching practices.
