معرفی
Dr. Brian Timmons is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University and Director of the Child Health & Exercise Medicine Program. He holds associate membership in the Department of Kinesiology and the Offord Centre for Child Studies. His research focuses on pediatric exercise medicine, metabolic health, and the impact of physical activity on chronic illness and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Dr. Timmons leads the Child Health & Exercise Medicine (CHEM) Program, which investigates exercise interventions for children with medical conditions such as brain tumors, inflammatory bowel disease, and cerebral palsy. His work combines clinical research with molecular biology to translate exercise physiology into clinical applications. Key areas include myelin repair in brain tumor survivors, metabolic flexibility in obesity, and concussion recovery through exercise.
Recent studies highlight the role of physical activity in improving cardiovascular health, cognitive function, and quality of life in children with chronic illnesses. His research has informed national guidelines for physical activity in early childhood and contributed to understanding the systemic effects of exercise on muscle and bone health in pediatric populations.
