Brian Samuel Englander

Brian Samuel Englander, MD, is the Robert E. Campbell Professor of Clinical Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Medicine. He is a board-certified, fellowship-trained diagnostic radiologist with a subspecialty in breast imaging and intervention. His work spans clinical leadership, global health equity, and medical innovation.

His research and fieldwork focus on global radiology, breast cancer, women's health, medical education, and radiotherapy, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and conflict-affected regions. He has led projects in Mongolia, Rwanda, Vietnam, Israel, Haiti, and India, aiming to standardize breast cancer services and improve access to screening through mobile and community-based models.

His recent publications highlight the use of low-cost handheld scanners for breast cancer detection and the role of public health cooperation in conflict zones. These works reflect a strong trend toward technology democratization, cross-cultural health diplomacy, and equitable access to oncology care.

Notable awards include being named an Eisenhower Fellow (USA, 2018), recognizing his work in understanding cultural and ethnic barriers to healthcare in Israel and Mongolia.
