Dr. Brian Rizzo is a Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Westfield State University. He is a retired New York City Police Department Sergeant and 9/11 first responder with a 20-year career spanning roles such as beat cop, Police Academy instructor, and administrative positions in Police Headquarters. His research focuses on the intersection of local political culture and police behavior, police organizational culture, and use of force. He also served in the US Naval Reserve with the Defense Intelligence Agency.
