Moonsun Kim is a Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at State University of New York College at Brockport, where he has served since 2007 after earning his PhD from SUNY Albany's School of Criminal Justice. He currently holds leadership positions including Chair of the Criminal Justice Department, College Senator, and President of the Korean Society of Criminology in America (KOSCA), while also serving as an Affiliated Senior Researcher at the John Finn Institute for Public Safety, Inc. in Albany, NY. Dr. Kim maintains active membership in professional organizations such as the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA), American Society of Criminology (ASC), and Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS).

Dr. Kim's research integrates geospatial technologies with law enforcement practices, focusing on forensic GIS applications, community/intelligence-led policing strategies, and program evaluation methodologies. This multidisciplinary approach bridges theoretical criminology with practical law enforcement applications through collaborations with local and state agencies.
As an Affiliated Senior Researcher at the John Finn Institute for Public Safety, Dr. Kim contributes to evidence-based research initiatives that directly inform law enforcement practices and public safety policies across New York State.
