Brian Paul Cozzarin is a Professor in the Department of Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo. He serves as Director of the Online MMSC-MOT program and teaches courses such as MSE 607 Applied Economics for Management and MSE 752 Behavioural Decision Making. His research focuses on the economics of technological change, technology and innovation management, and government program evaluation, leveraging large-scale administrative data from Canadian agencies. He has secured SSHRC grants for research on biotechnology firms and mobile banking adoption.
Education: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics (University of Illinois, 1998), MSc and BSc from the University of Guelph (1990 and 1987). Awards include the Best Paper in Entrepreneurial Finance (2016) and recognition from the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics (1999). He consults with agencies like Treasury Board Secretariat and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
Research emphasizes firm-level R&D, innovation, productivity, and growth using Canada Revenue Agency and Statistics Canada data. His recent work explores training’s differential impact on product vs. process innovation and pandemic-era consumer spending patterns.
