Dr. Brian Moritz is an Associate Professor in the Jandoli School of Communications at St. Bonaventure University, serving as director of the online MA programs in digital journalism and sports journalism. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication (2014) and M.A. in Media Studies (2011) from Syracuse University's Newhouse School, alongside a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University (1999).

His research focuses on societal, organizational, and economic models of digital journalism, particularly in sports media. He has published in Communication & Sport and the International Journal of Communication & Sport, and presents at national/international conferences. He chaired AEJMC's Sports Communication Interest Group (2020-21) and maintains the Sports Media Guy website.

Prior to academia, Moritz spent 10 years as an award-winning sports journalist, covering St. Bonaventure athletics and investigative stories like the men’s basketball eligibility scandal. He also hosted the podcast The Other 51 and contributes to Nieman Lab.
