Richard A. Lee, Ph.D., is a Professor and Executive Director at St. Bonaventure University’s Jandoli School of Communication. With a career spanning over 40 years, he has worked in journalism, government communications, and academia.
- Education: B.A. in English (St. Bonaventure University), M.A. in Public Media Arts (Montclair State University), Ph.D. in Media Studies (Rutgers University)
Lee’s research interests focus on media and democracy, political campaigns, and the intersection of journalism, communication, and pop culture. He has led student research projects, including one featured on CNN and C-SPAN in 2021.
He has taught courses such as Media and Democracy, political campaigns, and graduate public relations seminars. His work includes a chapter in War and the Media: Essays on News Reporting, Propaganda and Popular Culture (McFarland & Company, 2009) and chapters for Hall Institute publications.
- Leadership: Founding member of the Hall Institute of Public Policy – New Jersey (2005–2011)
- Director of the Jandoli School’s graduate program in Integrated Marketing Communications (2014–2018)
Lee actively collaborates with students on research and media projects, co-editing the community news site TAPinto Greater Olean with his wife, Anne. He has presented at international conferences on topics ranging from Beatles studies to Bruce Springsteen’s cultural impact.
